Walter Hand has greatly inspired his peers and community. Despite living with Cerebral Palsy, his patience and kindness have always remained. Through our community, I Know Walter, we celebrate the man also known as the "Shock Man" of Tallahassee, FL.

Words from a Dear Friend of Walter

I met Walter over 30 years ago when I worked next door to Publix when it was still on West Pensacola. Little did I know how much I would learn from him! Walter has been a constant source of inspiration for me! He has been a true friend, patient and kind, as life has whirled by.
This website is dedicated to the man they affectionately call the “Shock Man!” - as he never ceases to amaze us all! Who is Walter?What is his story? They made a movie called SHOCKMAN: The Walter Hand Story. Walter has been selling The Tallahassee Democrat newspaper for over 50 years!
Walter Loves Tallahassee! Thank you, Tallahassee, for the countless acts of amazing kindness you always show to Walter! We all love Walter's pure determination and perseverance!
For those of us who know Walter, he has had Cerebral Palsy since he was very young. This may affect his body but doesn't affect his mind. If we all treated each other like Walter treats the world, we'd live in a heaven-on-earth. He's a local legend and inspires the entire community to be better. Walter bridges gaps and brings people together.
